Technical Process

My realistic drawings require several weeks to finish since they contain numerous layers of pigment. Painting, however, takes me less time. Pencil and charcoal allow me to capture the appearance of color through shading. Digital art provides more flexibility and convenience.

I photograph my own subjects and use these photographs solely as references. After selecting a reference photo, I precisely observe the subject and begin by lightly sketching the shapes and details with a lead pencil, paying close attention to ensure correct proportions. Once the outline is finished and the proportions are accurate, I establish form and shape, beginning with the darkest colors and finishing with light colors. I apply delicate shading techniques, while continuously adding details until the piece is finished.

No projectors, grids, or tracing methods are used as an aid in the process. I'm a creative realist, not a photorealist.
